Srinagar, January 20 (KNO) : Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday claimed that muslims in Jammu especially nomadic people are being targeted in a vicious style. Mehbooba was addressing a presser in Srinagar. According to KNO correspondent Mufti said that witch hunt has been launched against Gujjars and Bakerwal community by vested interests working under garb of various organisations. "Have raised the issue with Governor Satya Pal Malik regarding Gujjar and Bakerwal community but it is unfortunate that they are still being targeted," she said. She said that the Muslim dominated residential areas in Jammu are being taken into the domain of Municipal Corporation following which the Muslims are being targeted and harassed by one way or another. "These communities have been the oldest communities of these places but now people are told they are coming to take away land etc while as they have been there since time immemorial," she said. Mufti accused BJP of scuttling it’s move to bring forest ordinance that would have settled the issue of Gujjars and Bakerwals forever. “These Muslim communities are being targeted and are being forced to vacate lands,” she said.(KNO)
